Our Team

With over 30 years of experience in the optometry field, our office manager, Debi, is the most experienced optician in our office. While studying criminal justice and sociology in college, Debi began working part-time for a local pediatrician, where she developed a lifelong interest in the medical field.

After transitioning into optometry, Debi continued to build her expertise, working alongside several doctors, managing numerous team members, and developing a strong foundation in patient care, optical services, and practice operations.

Debi’s favorite part of working at Covina Hills Optometric Group is the opportunity to build lasting relationships with patients while continuing to learn and grow with the practice. Outside of work, she enjoys watching her grandkids play sports, spending time in her garden, and hiking in the local mountains.

Marta was born in Monterey Park and raised in Pasadena, where she graduated from Blair High School. She later attended Northwest College, where she became a certified Optometric Assistant. Marta has been working in the optical field since 2005 and brings many years of experience to patient care.

Her favorite part of working at Covina Hills Optometric Group is the friendly, welcoming environment and the team’s shared commitment to learning something new each day.

Outside of work, Marta enjoys spending time with her family, going to the movies, and attending concerts.

Vanessa was born and raised in California and attended the University of La Verne, where she studied biochemistry with an emphasis in sports medicine. With an early dream of becoming a sports trainer, she developed a strong interest in health, wellness, and patient care.

She has been working in the optical industry for 20 years, beginning her career in billing before transitioning to the optician side shortly after. Her experience has given her a strong foundation in both the administrative and patient-facing aspects of eye care.

Her favorite part of working at Covina Hills Optometric Group is the positive environment. She appreciates how the team makes the office an easy, enjoyable, and welcoming place to be.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her two daughters and her boyfriend. Her daughters keep her busy with softball and extracurricular activities, and she and her boyfriend enjoy traveling, attending baseball games and concerts, and cheering on the Dodgers.

Bella attended local schools and later completed trade school programs that shaped her career path. While working as a technician, she earned her ABO certification with Luxottica and soon became a licensed optician. Along the way, she fell in love with the optical world where she works closely with doctors to help treat their patients' glaucoma and myopia.

She has really enjoyed working at Covina Hills Optometric Group because it has such a wonderful environment and a truly positive work culture. You can tell that the team is happy to be here, and she especially loves how patients are treated like family.

Her hobbies include playing guitar, running, hiking, and dancing. She stays active and enjoys spending her free time doing things that energize and inspire her. She also devotes many hours each month to her ministry work, teaching the Bible to others for free. That work is especially meaningful to her and brings her the most fulfillment. While she does not celebrate holidays or birthdays, she will never say no to chocolate!

Raquel earned her Associate Degree in Pre-Allied Health from Citrus College. During her studies, she volunteered at multiple hospitals, where she gained valuable experience working with patients and supporting compassionate, high-quality care.

Raquel comes to work each day with a smile and a positive attitude, excited to be part of a welcoming and supportive team environment. One of her favorite things about working at Covina Hills Optometric Group is the way the entire staff works together to create a warm, comfortable experience for every patient. She takes pride in helping patients feel cared for and ensuring they leave with a positive impression.

Outside of work, Raquel enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She also loves reading, watching movies and shows, listening to music, going to concerts, and spending time with her dogs and cat.

Starlyn attended California State University, San Bernardino, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a concentration in Microbiology.

She enjoys meeting new patients and helping them feel comfortable throughout the pre-testing process before they see the doctor. One of her favorite things about optometry is that the field is always evolving, offering continuous opportunities to learn and grow. She especially enjoys helping patients understand the importance of their eye health and looks forward to continuing to expand her knowledge in healthcare.

Outside of work, Starlyn enjoys reading fantasy and thriller novels. When she is not immersed in a book, she loves exploring new coffee shops and spending time with friends.

Sydney earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology, with an emphasis in Integrative Biology, from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. During her time in school, she assisted with research projects that helped deepen her understanding of healthcare and patient care.

She currently works as a medical assistant and scribe, where she supports both patients and providers throughout the exam process. Her favorite part of the role is assisting with advanced medical procedures and contributing to a high level of patient care.

Looking ahead, Sydney plans to continue expanding her knowledge in the medical field and hopes to further her career in healthcare.
Outside of work, Sydney enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, cooking, and going to Disneyland.

Colleen attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology. After gaining experience through research and studying abroad, she sought a role that would combine her love of biology with meaningful patient interaction.

Colleen’s favorite part of working at Covina Hills Optometric Group is getting to know our patients and meeting people from all walks of life. What makes CHOG especially meaningful to her is the kindness and compassion shown by every member of the team.

Outside of work, Colleen enjoys spending time with her loved ones, as well as reading, journaling, and knitting.

Jessica is currently an undergraduate student at UC Riverside, where she is majoring in Biology on the pre-PA track. She has volunteered in a variety of healthcare settings, gaining exposure to multiple fields, including pharmacology and behavior analysis, before finding her place in optometry.

Jessica’s favorite part about working at CHOG is the uplifting and welcoming environment created by both the staff and patients. She enjoys building genuine connections with patients and coworkers, and she appreciates that each day brings opportunities to smile, laugh, and learn from those around her. She also values being part of a team that is continually striving to grow and provide the best possible care for patients.

In her free time, Jessica enjoys café hopping with friends, playing video games, and giving lots of love to her dog.

Sofia Luminato currently attends Cal Poly Pomona, where she is majoring in Kinesiology and minoring in Microbiology. She has a strong passion for learning, especially when it comes to understanding the human body. Through her academic studies and volunteer experience in a hospital setting, Sofia developed a growing interest in the medical field and is currently considering a future as a physician. This interest is what drew her to Covina Hills Optometric Group.

Working at CHOG has allowed Sofia to connect her academic knowledge with real-world patient care. She enjoys learning that optometry extends far beyond prescribing glasses and values being part of a team dedicated to patient care, education, and creating a positive patient experience. One of Sofia’s favorite aspects of working at the office is the welcoming and supportive environment created by the staff, as well as the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from her coworkers.

Outside of work and school, Sofia enjoys hiking, running, exploring the outdoors, relaxing, and spending quality time with her family.
