Our Services
COMPREHENSIVE EYE EXAMINATIONS: Our comprehensive eye examinations determine your eyeglasses prescription, evaluate your eye teaming & focusing skills, and assess your eyes both inside & out for any potential disorders or eye diseases including cataracts, macular degeneration, and glaucoma. After your vision and eye health is carefully evaluated, appropriate treatment is prescribed.
CONTACT LENSES: Our doctors use state of the art soft contact lenses made of "super-permeable" silicon hydrogel. This material is the latest in soft lens technology and breathes five times more oxygen than the previous generation. These lenses are available for most prescriptions, including nearsighted and farsighted prescriptions, toric (astigmatism) and multifocal (bifocal) contacts. The silicon hydrogel lenses are not only more "breathable" but they also hold moisture better and are the best solution for the dry eye patient.
Although Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) contact lenses are a shrinking segment of the industry, we still have a large number of patients who wear them. Our laboratory uses the latest in computerized lens manufacturing technology to give you the latest designs of rigid gas permeable lenses. Multifocal, Bi-Toric (for high astigmatism), keratoconus, and post-surgical Radial Keratotomy (RK) are some of the many Rigid Gas Permeable designs.
COMPUTER VISION SOLUTIONS: If you are experiencing vision problems on the computer, our doctors can perform tests to detect eye problems that might contribute to Computer Vision Syndrome. If you spend several hours a day on the computer, it makes sense to have specially designed computer lenses to help you work more clearly, comfortably, and efficiently at your computer.
Symptoms of Computer Vision Syndrome include:
Headaches * Loss of focus * Burning eyes * Tired eyes * Double vision * Blurred vision * Neck and shoulder pain OPTICAL DISPENSING: Our office has teamed up with state of the art optical laboratories that use the latest in technology to fabricate your glasses. We offer the latest in optical lenses from Zeiss, AO (American Optical), and Sola Optical. Before your glasses leave the lab, they are inspected for proper fit and form. We check the prescription for accuracy to insure the lenses meet ANSI (American National Standards Institute) standards and before we call you that your glasses are ready, the final product must also meet our own strict quality standards. Our highly qualified optical staff is able to adjust and fit your glasses to you for extended comfort and vision.

As a NVISION affiliated doctor, we are involved in the pre-procedure evaluation and consultation, the laser procedure, and post-procedure care. For many of you who are long-term contact lens wearers, the pre-operative care can make the difference between an excellent result and a mediocre one. After all, no one knows your eyes better than your optometrist.

SURGERY CO-MANAGEMENT: Our office co-manages with several local eye surgeons to provide surgical services such as cataract, LASIK, strabismic, pterygium surgery, and glaucoma surgery. The collaboration between optometrist and surgeon ensure that the patient receives the best care possible.
EYE INFECTIONS AND EYE INJURIES: Our office provides emergency services for eye infections and eye injuries. Call our office at 626-331-6448 during office hours or after hours for information on how to contact the on-call doctor. Our staff will work with you to schedule an appointment as soon as possible. All of our doctors are board certified in the treatment and management of ocular disease and will be able to handle most cases. Eye infections and injuries may be covered by some vision plans but are usually covered by PPO (Preferred Provider Organizations) major medical plans.
DRY EYES (OCULAR SURFACE DISEASE) : "Dry eyes" is the symptom but the actual condition is called Ocular Surface Disease (OSD). Symptoms include scratchy eyes, burning, mild redness and gritty feeling eyes. Our doctors are trained to evaluate, diagnose, and treat OSD. Treatment may range from simple over the counter artificial tears to a more complex medical regimen involving prescription medication and special plugs inserted in the drainage ducts of the eye. The treatment and management of dry eyes (OSD) are usually covered by PPO medical plans.
CATARACTS: Our doctors are able to evaluate your eyes for cataracts and when vision is affected to the extent that you cannot read or see distant objects comfortably, we will recommend cataract surgery. Cataract surgery involves the removal of the cloudy natural lens and then implanting an IOL (Intra-Ocular Lens) to restore vision. There are some very recent advancements in IOL technology that allow you to have more options when you undergo cataract surgery. Whether it be a standard single focus IOL, toric IOL, accommodating or multifocal IOL, our doctors along with the eye surgeon collaborate to help you decide which IOL best suits your needs.
GLAUCOMA: Glaucoma is a complex disease and is not always easy to diagnose. The most common cause of glaucoma is from the fluid pressure being too high inside the eye which leads to damage of the optic nerve and subsequent loss of peripheral vision. We always screen for glaucoma during routine eye examinations. Tests include checking the pressure of the eye, screening for peripheral vision loss and evaluating the optic nerve for damage. We use the latest technology including visual field testing and optical coherence tomography (OCT) to determine retinal function. If you are suspected of having glaucoma, Dr. Hom and Dr. Nguyen are Board Certified to diagnose, treat and manage the condition.

DIABETES: Diabetes is the leading cause of new cases of blindness among adults aged 20-74 years. Long-term diabetes and uncontrolled blood sugar are the most significant risk factors for the development of diabetic retinopathy. Routine dilations, retinal imaging, and OCT may be performed as part of the yearly vision exam to screen for any diabetic changes in the eye. Early diabetic changes may monitored by our doctors and will be covered by most major medical insurance plans. If advancing diabetic eye disease is detected, patients will be referred to a board certified retinal specialist.
